HandyFox - What's it for?

  • Handy web application enabler

Nowadays, web has become an application platform, more and more traditional desktop applications are facing the strong competition from their web counterparts.
But some limitations has obstructed the web applications to exploit the victory, following are some I had found and try to resolve with HandyFox:

    • Lack of lightweight style user interface - for applet kind of application (for e.g. a calculator), full web browser UI looks too redundant, a small semi-transparent floating pane looks better.
    • Not handy - that means you can only show/hide it's UI by minimize/restore the browser window, you can not make the browser window sticky (i.e. always keep topmost), and can not minimize it as a tray icon, and can not minimize it as a floating icon. After trying HandyFox, I believe you could understand this better.
    • Lack of UI state auto save/load capability - for e.g. after you close a calculator web application and restart it, it will appear at the last position and with the last size.
    • Not suitable for standby kind fo application - for e.g. an IM application should be able to work on the background and alam you about something happend.
    • ... Try HandyFox and you can find more :)
